BL1000 Denim Belt Loop Fusing Machine
The new Astex Belt Loop Processor is especially designed for fusing anti-fraying films and webs. Improved quality and sewing productivity is achieved with a properly fused loop. Thread fraying is eliminated during cutting and stone washing. As an added benefit, sewing productivity is increased when attaching the loop to the band because of the added stability of the fused loop.
The Astex BL1000 is designed to fuse denim loops with quality assurance at the highest levels of productivity. Over 33 feet of top and bottom heated length assure even melt of the resin at maximum speeds and minimal temperatures.
At the Bobbin Show in 1999, we introduced the BL1000 designed specifically for the fusible films, which are more popular today. We looked at the competition and determined that we could improve upon safety, productivity, and quality of the process and remain competitive in price.
The center loading plate extends outside of the machine for easy loading. A “jam” switch stops the machine, raises the head and extends the center plate to the out position.
Our unique three heated plate system keeps both sides of the loop in contact with the heated plate the entire time that the loop is in the machine. This greatly decreases the time for the heat to penetrate the fabric and melt the film. Thirty-three feet of double-sided heat allows for up to 100-fpm speeds at a 3.3 second dwell time.
A field test was conducted at a large manufacturer in the state of Tennessee. The BL1000 was compared to a similar size competitive machine. The competitor's machine was one that had been in use in this factory for several years and standards had been set. The standard for 14 oz. Denim and the 3 mil film was 450* F and 45 fpm. After a week of testing, a new standard was set for the BL1000 machine of 360* F at 75 fpm on the identical materials. The customer stated that the lower temperature of the Astex machine produced a more flexible loop with a better hand while at the same time eliminated a productivity problem at the automatic loop setting machine caused by the loop being too stiff. The result was a 40% increase in fusing productivity, a productivity gain at the loop attachment station and a gain in quality.
Results and speed will vary with the thickness of the film and the weight of the fabric.
